New England - Bahamas
« on: July 18, 2023, 01:07:23 pm »
This winter, I am going to be flying my 980 from Massachusetts down to Stella Maris.

Any suggestions on stops, routing, etc? A brief look at the map and fuel prices makes Savannah GA pretty attractive, but I'm not sure about routings from there to the Bahamas-- in the past, I have always gone from Florida.

Coming back, we will be going through Orlando (so getting my overflight permit set up), so shouldn't be an issue.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks for the offer, but not this time. PHL is quite a bit too far north, and a direct line would take you waaay off shore! Not sure I'm comfortable with that.

I got the overflight permit, so that is good. I'm thinking that a stop in Orlando both directions makes the most sense, minimizes the offshore distance and breaks it up.

Any suggestions?

Also, now I have to go find my DTOPS password so I can order my 2024 customs sticker!

In hindsight, I should have gone direct from ILM to MYLS. I wasn't sure about the offshore aspect, but looking at it now, I see it's a pretty common route. Live and learn!
