Hoover Shrikes
« on: August 29, 2018, 01:52:55 am »
I was wondering if any airplanes are flying today that Bob Hoover flew in shows?   It seeems in the early days  there were many different shrikes (from videos and old photos).  Were those right off the line, were they later sold to buyers?  I had heard a story from someone at Torrance that when they noticed wrinkles on the upper wing skins the airplane was quickly replaced.

On a side note N500RA was deregistered by Smithsonian and the N number now reserved by individual in Texas.   I think they should have retired it.

Not sure how many are out there, I did see the one he used in a lot of shows at the national air and space (udvar-hazy center).

I'm sure there are several. Barry Collman would know, and Bruce Byerly might also have some ideas.

I have found myself looking at old air show photos and tracking them late at night but never kept a file. Barry is probably the man.
