Sundstrand Oil Filters
« on: July 01, 2024, 10:43:06 pm »
The 695 maintenance manual calls for changing the two oil filters for the Sundstrand every 450 hours. So far, that is what I have done.

This time, Aero Air inspected them and said the filters looked like new and there was no reason to replace them (and, to be fair, they are very expensive--thousands of dollars each).

I'm not sure I'm comfortable with this... but I'm curious what others think.

Incidentally, I very much hope the filters are still available!

Good news, Aero Air has the filters in stock. So at least that is not a concern.

Now just how many zeros are after that first $1

I have always changed or had changed anything with a "life" date even if just to inspect... figuring the onus is better on them than on me if it were to fail.
Not sure I would ever want to know how many Zeros that would make for the total after so many years.

The secrets are pretty straightforward, and as with anything, easier to say than do!

1) Never, ever, ever, ever use Max Flo
2) Always add oil at least every 25 hours, and never more than 30
3) Change both filters every 450 hours
4) Operate the airplane as much as possible in cool, dry climates such as the west coast or Germany!
